In the run-up to the World Environment Day, 125 Saplings were planted at Agara Lake as part of the 3000 Saplings Challenge taken up by Kaagaz Foundation in association with varions Lake Groups, Citizen Groups, NGOs and Corporates across Bengaluru. This event was sponsored by GoRun Club and Kaagaz Foundation and the members of the Run Club and Volunteers of Agara Lake Group also participated in large numbers to make this event a great success and the event was supported by Karnataka Forest Department and Agara Lake Protection and Management Society.
The objective of the 3000 Saplings Challenge is to bring in greater Citizen participation. Forest Dept, BBMP Forest and BBMP Lakes Div are helping in guiding on the type of Saplings and providing Saplings free of cost and with support form various Groups/NGO/Corporates through CSR and donations other ground work related to plantation including Pit digging and other Labour work is done in various locations identified.
